Accutane Side Effects

Isotretinoin is a medication for cancer and is marketed under the brand name of Accutane. Accutane is a wonderful drug that effectively cures variety of cancers and deadly skin infections. Use of Accutane was first started for treatment of brain and pancreatic cancer. But later its use was extended and today Accutane is a panacea for many types of cancers and baleful skin problems. Cancer is caused when cells grow abnormally at a rapid manner. Accutane has the ability to combat against fast replicating cells and hence it is used for treating cancer. Though Accutane is perfect for treating nodulocystic acne, it comes with a number of adverse effects some of which are permanent and some other is temporary.

Adverse Effects of Accutane:
The over dosage or improper dosages of Accutane, may cause severe disorders.  Most general side effects of Accutane include, drying sensation on lips, skin and mucous membrane, itching sensation, rashes, anthralgia, hyperhidrosis, thinning hair, dryness and severe irritation in eyes, thinning of skin which could be even permanent , bleeding of nose,  pain in back ands conjunctivitis. Infrequent adverse effects include, raised blood glucose level, mild acne flare and fatigue. Some of very uncommon effects include night blindedness, cataract, corneal opacity, pancreatitis, psychosis and depression. During medication of Accutane, skin becomes sensitive to sun. This increases along with sun burns and damages

It is worse if side effects are permanent. One may repent throughout one’s life for administering improper dosages of Accutane. These side effects retain even after completion of medication. Hair loss, arthralgias, Nyctalopia, inflammatory bowel disease, keloids, and rosacea, a disease called rosacea in which reddish color appear on skin and causes severe irritation.

Other Side effects:
Another severe adverse effect is the diminutive growth in height. Accutane is believed to stop growth of long bone in adolescents. Accutane also affects if it is administered in pregnancy period.   It causes birth defects and is a major part that causes depression that in turn is a major reason for suicide.

Nausea and vomiting sensation, pain in bones and joint, severe watery diarrhea and aching swallowing are other adverse effects.

Though Accutane is a powerful drug for many disease its side effects can prove very dangerous. The best way to avoid some of the side effects to some extent is consulting a right physician. The medication and dosage must be very appropriate and as per suggestions of doctor.
